Synopsis:

Country India, province West Bengal and the native district Purulia with its won laborious sad and colorful people is the main focus. Here in a remote village lives the young couple Vima & Balika, the son of this laterite, saffron soil. They are married for years but childless. The habitants of the locality tease them as Banja (Childless), Challenge Vima’s Capability, the fertility of Balika. This superstitious wind changed into storm to destabilize there martial and social life. In the process the girl is trapped into veg religious sexual harassments. She faced it helplessly with a cry “No more girl child, oh fate, oh god.”

Director’s Note : A short feature film ANTARDAHAN The impact of the role played by women on society is immense. Although the quota for women in various arena fixed by Govt. was 33%, it was thankfully revised at 50% recently which is positive sign. Inspite of it, do women enjoy their highlights this injustice through the heroine when she fearfully asks “will I give birth to a female baby?”

Equality of women should be the basic objective of a healthy society and the film tries to make the viewers aware of the lack of it through a simple storyline.
